Dr. Aziz will present a lecture on the folkloric and traditional dances of Egypt on Youtube, titled "Folk dances that influenced oriental dance." Please note that the lecture will be available to view only for a week from Friday 26th, 2022. Egypt is famous for many different types of folk dances, divided into sectors, some of which have more than one type of folk dance. Most Egyptian folk dances have deep roots throughout history. Egyptian folk dances emerged after the ancient Egyptians discovered the relationship between their kinetic performance and the language they used through their talking and their spirit. All these types of folk dances influenced belly dancing and oriental dancing with a lot of wonderful forms of dance steps. However, there are some types of folk dances that have had great influence, starting with the eras of Ghawazi, Jawary and Awalem. There will be a lot of information and footages during this lecture about their dances, as well as the candle stick and melaya leff dance. This lecture will be pre-recorded and emailed to all participants once they register.

Rochdi Belgasmi 's dance workshop will take you on an exciting trip to Tunisia through the Tunisian dance movements. The workshop will elucidate the different regions and teach you the various dances of Ghita, Souga, Mrabaa, Bou naouara, Gharbi and Fazani. The Tunisian dances, whether performed by male or female, a group or Bedouins, have multiple origins such as Amazigh, Arab, Andalusian, etc. A popular Tunisian dance is a Maghreb dance, very different from oriental dance which is rather aerial. On the contrary, Tunisian dance is very earthy, rooted and grounded. The dance steps are done once with the heels and another time on the demi-pointes. Through a well-structured course pedagogically, between techniques, myths and stories, students will discover a rich dance. Students should wear comfortable clothes, shoes and a hip scarf to frame their hip movement. It is not recommended to dance barefoot because Tunisian dance requires a lot of foot movement.
